I purchased a $2000 down-filled sofa here and am super disappointed. The sofa was comfortable but very poor quality for the price, and DownEast kept promising a fix that never came.
The fabric itself started to wear after about a year. I live alone... a $2000 sofa should not start to wear after a single person uses it for a year. Additionally, the down feathers popped out too much. I understand the nature of down-filled items and expected this to some extent. However, the feathers constantly poked & scratched (and hurt!) every time I sat down. Additionally, I was constantly vacuuming up feathers. I made a complaint, and DownEast said they would send some cushion liners to stop this problem. I followed up 3 times over the next 6-8 months - each time they said there was a delay at the warehouse (that I believe is in China). It’s now almost been a year since they promised the cushion liners and not a word. I ended up selling the sofa on a classifieds site.
I would strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere for quality furniture and customer service.
I ordered a couch from Downeast and it wasn't delivered until February. They kept telling me it would be delivered the next week and then the next week and then the next week...
I'm no couchologist, but I'm fairly certain in the time it took them to deliver this couch I could have gone to the forest, harvested all of the necessary wood and fibers needed to make a couch, and built it myself. They said it was sent from California but the only possible explanation for why it took so long was that they loaded it onto a handcart and pulled it to Utah, mile by mile.
If I could impart any words of wisdom to you from beyond the computer screen, it would be to find a couch somewhere else.
In most cases new management is an improvement, but not for this company. They have lost touch with customer service standards that DownEast was known for. The entire company is sold out of large white camisoles or just not wanting to sell any during their own sales...? Went to three stores... and even online. Didn’t ask the associate to call any other stores for me because she offered up that they were ordered by their new owners not to call others stores for customers and that they are moving warehouses right now so it’s a lost cause anyhow. I have been buying this product for over 10 years and will now go elsewhere. DownEast was such a great brand with a wonderful reputation and tasteful clothing lines but they’ve forgotten their loyal customers.
I bought a sectional, paid over 3k. It looks beautiful, fluffy and comfy in the store. The cushions on my couch are flat!???? i went back to the store to ask if it was normal, i was told that i have to fluff them up after i sit on them to keep them fluffy, that that’s what they do to keep theirs looking fluffy. However when i bought them or when they were trying to sell it to me, i was told that the cushions were sewed in squares so that they don’t separate, but that’s not the case.
I don’t recommend this sectional ☹️
I know things are crazy right now because of Covid-19, but the salesman assured me that even with COVID, I would receive my couch in 60 days from time of purchase. Well it has been two weeks since they 60 day mark has past and they still don't even have any sort of idea when my couch will be done or delivered. Definitely won't be ordering anything from them again.
Don’t order the Coast to Coast swim top if you are very small chested. It has a sewn in lining with no removable padding so it looks very silly on someone with no boobs to fill out the cups (speaking from personal experience). So much for “inclusive sizing” assuming that all women have size B cup size or bigger... other than that it is cute.
I read a previous review (after ordering) about shipping not being what they say. Totally true. Got a notification 6 days after I ordered (and they charged my card) that my order was sent to fulfillment. So the 3-5 day shipping they advertise is inaccurate. It not only hasn’t shipped on day 6, it hasn’t even been fulfilled yet. I also noticed they only respond to customers who rate them high. Interesting! haha When I get my order...I’ll be back for another review.
